The existing site was home to the former Friar Park Inn, public house, Wednesbury. The site proved to have complex constraints with existing access issues, car parking and allocating residential amenity space.
The scope of works involves the construction of a new three storey building that provides 375 sqm of Commercial Retail space and 12 residential dwellings and 120 sqm of Residents Amenity space, with hard and soft landscaping works.
The design of the block responds to characteristic features of the houses within the Estate with emphasis on proportion and repetition. Exaggerated sawtooth brick panels are used to create expression and shadow effects on the façades changing the appearance throughout the day.
The scheme has recently been submitted for Full Planning in April 2023 and is currently under consultation.
